My father was a drag race driver in the NHRA,
so I grew up with a love for fast cars.
One of my first memories was driving in my Dad’s ’63 Vette,
feeling like I was on a rocket ship with wheels,
and I swore to myself that one day,
I would have my own Corvette.
My first sports car was a Datsun 1976 280Z,
which I lost about a year later to a drunk driver.
After that, I bought a 1980 Mazda RX-7.
That was stolen less then a year later.
I was married to my wife Annemarie the following year,
and started a family a few years later.
However, I never lost my passion for sports cars, especially the Corvette.
Years later, I finally was able to buy another sports car.
As I was mulling over my decision, my wife asked me a simple question.
She said “Honey, why don’t you just get a Corvette?”
Needless to say, that was the last time she had to ask it!
Wednesday, April 23rd of 2008, my childhood dream became a reality.
I drove home in my '08 Corvette.
